About NSIT
NSIT services include most of the telephony and voice services, data networking and network services (such as electronic mail), instructional computing, mainframe computing and server management, core central administrative systems ranging from registration to finance, large-scale and cross-project research computing, central user support, and information technology resale on campus. In addition, several other IT organizations at the University—for example, those responsible for certain library systems, for most hospital and medical systems, and for information technology in several Schools and Divisions—report to their various Deans and Directors. NSIT reports to the Vice President and Chief Information Officer.
NSIT employs almost 400 individuals. Its annual expenditures approximate $70-million, of which just under half purchases and manages goods and services for internal resale, and about 20% goes to capital projects and renewal. Total University spending on information technology, including staff, hardware, software, and services, is estimated to be about $110-million.
