cMail Storage Increased to One Gigabyte!

Now you can store more email without running out of room. As of the new year, University students, faculty and staff have one full gigabyte of cMail storage.

The new storage capacity will make it possible to retain many more messages if you wish, though we still encourage you to delete messages you no longer need in order to speed up reading and filing tasks. We are excited to be able to offer this new capacity. Enjoy!

Checking your quota

There are a few ways to check your cMail quota. If you log into Webmail, you'll see a bar at the top of your screen measuring the percentage of your quota you are using. You can also visit http://cnet.uchicago.edu/quota and log in using your CNetID and password. Then, use the available tools to measure usage by folder and identify where all of your mail is hiding. Remember, the more mail you have in your inbox, the longer it takes to check your email. Clear your inbox, folders and trash of unneeded messages in order to speed things up.

In addition, the version of the Thunderbird mail reader that NSIT distributes via the NSIT Connectivity Package includes an indicator bar that provides cMail quota information.

More Storage for Files Is Coming Soon

Look for future announcements about WebShare, a web-based file storage option that will offer an additional gigabyte of storage, making it simple to keep and share files.
