Coming Soon: A New and Improved Chicago Card!
This spring, the Identification and Privileges Office will begin issuing a new and improved version of the Chicago Card, the University faculty, staff, and student identification card.
The new card will introduce several features, and will sport an
entirely new look, including a vertical, rather than horizontal,
orientation. This new design will allow you to attach your ID to a
lanyard, making access to your Chicago Card easy when using it to pay
for photocopies or meals, to enter the libraries, or, for students, to
do your laundry in the dorms, among the card's various other uses.
The new Chicago Card design limits the amount of information on the front of the card. Most of your identifying information, including the library barcode and your ID number, will be on the back of the card. We’ve also added your ChicagoID, the University’s universal identification number, to the back of the card.
NSIT is working on plans to extend the new card to all of campus. The initial focus, however, is to provide new cards for those entering the University as faculty, staff and students. Please watch for future announcements regarding plans to issue replacement cards for existing cardholders.
The card's redesign and its new features are part of an effort by NSIT and the University to streamline University systems while making access to the campus' various resources faster and easier for all members of the University community.
