Short Film and Photography Contests Open to University Community
Each year, NSIT mails an Orientation CD to incoming students in order to introduce them to the range of information technology resources available on campus -- Chalk, email, safe computing, and much more.
This year, we want to go even further, by letting students get involved. We plan to upgrade to a DVD packed with a number of short movies and photographs created by current students especially for incoming students. How better to let future students know how they'll get connected than by letting them see current students in action?
The deadline for submissions for both contests is April 15. For more information, visit http://ofest.uchicago.edu/contest.
Movie Contest
We invite you to submit a short movie (up to three minutes long) about an aspect of IT on our campus. We've got it narrowed down to five general areas, with a few sample topics under each one that we'd like some focus on, including computing on campus, security, and purchasing a computer.
If your video is selected as one of the winning entries, it will be published on the OFest DVD and website and you will win an iPod!
Submissions will be judged on accuracy, entertainment value, and how well they convey information about the topics in question.
Desktop Photo Contest
If still rather than moving pictures are your medium of choice, NSIT is also holding a desktop photo contest. Our OFest DVD and website will feature images of the University that will be available for use as desktop backgrounds. You may also submit any University-themed photos that you have taken, and if we select yours, we'll give you an Amazon.com gift certificate.
