Get the New Chicago Card!
The University began issuing a new and improved version of the Chicago Card, the University faculty, staff, and student identification card, to students in September. We will begin issuing new cards to faculty and staff on a department-by-department basis, beginning in October.
You can get your new card at the ID and Privileges Office in the Lobby of the Regenstein Library. The ID and Privileges Office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bring your old ID card to avoid a fee.
The new card introduces several features, and sports an entirely new look, including a vertical, rather than horizontal, orientation. The new design also limits the amount of information on the front of the card. Most of your identifying information, including the library barcode and your ID number, will be on the back of the card. We've also added your ChicagoID, the University's universal identification number, to the back of the card.
The card's redesign and its new features are part of an effort by NSIT and the University to streamline University systems while making access to the campus' various resources faster and easier for all members of the University community.
See our FAQ for more information about the card's features and benefits.
