USITE to Bring Technology Closer to Students

In an effort to provide more and better opportunities for students to make use of technologies essential to the academic program, NSIT is implementing some changes to its USITE computers and computing spaces. New technologies are making it possible to spread out and integrate with other resources like study spaces, print materials, or subject matter experts.

Starting this Spring Quarter, 50 USITE computers, including Macintosh-based media stations as well as PC-based U-stations, will move from the lower-level computing cluster to the first floor reading room in the John Crerar Library. USITE Computing Assistants will be available at a nearby service desk. The lower level facility will continue to support instructor-led classroom sessions, but will no longer function as a general student computing facility. Also, students can now take advantage of fully loaded U-stations that are conveniently located in many areas around campus, including the Reynolds Club and Stuart Hall.
