All users of the campus network must abide by certain policies, which may be seen on the NSIT Policies page. Of particular relevance to Data Networking are
- Infrastructure Policy which details the the types of devices allowed on the network and the manner in which they can be connected and used

- Use of Non uchicago.edu Domain Names outlining the circumstances under which any domain name other than uchicago.edu can be used on the University network
- Redirection of University Domain Names to External Networks describes the approval process for pointing a domain name to an external network
- UCHICAGO identity by IP address lists the IP address space that should be allowed any privileges or access granted to uchicago.edu as an entity
- Port monitoring- policy on monitoring ports
- Limiting peer-to-peer traffic -policy on limiting peer-to-peer traffic
- Universal Wiring Plan - structured cabling specification for new construction or renovation
- Network Maintenance Window - time periods during which connectivity may be interrupted for maintenance work
