Directory Services Walk-Through
The version of Thunderbird included in the NSIT Connectivity Package is already configured to interact with the University's directory (LDAP) server. This directory easily lookup up someone email address using, for example, their real name.
To use the lookup in Thunderbird, start composing an email: on the "To" line, type name of the person you want to lookup and when Thunderbird finds a match, it will suggest it for you.

Adding Entries to Your Address Book
If you'd like to add an entry in LDAP into your address book, go to Tools → Address Book. From the left-hand side menu, select UChicago Directory. Type a name in the search bar on the right; once you've found the entry you want to add to your address book, drag it to the entry on the left that says "Address Book".
