Documentation - GNetIDs - Application
GNetID Application
The GNet Program is an NSIT service that distributes limited authority to departments and other authorized groups to assign guest accounts (GNetIDs) for access to the wireless network to guests of the University.
This application is for departments and other groups who wish to be authorized to grant GNetIDs.
General Information
Please provide the following general information about your group:
- Name of Business Unit/School/Division
- Primary contact's name, CNetID, and phone number
- Name, phone number, email address of the public-facing group or role within your organization that will provide the clients with GNetIDs. (e.g., the front desk is the service distributor and public contact group of the GNet service for the Quad Club).
Policy Considerations
Please review the GNet Administration Policy and answer the following:
- Please define your client base. Who will receive GNetIDs from your group? Who will decide eligibility?
- How will you implement the GNet policies (including maintaining data of all GNet clients for at least six months, which includes the signed copy of the Eligibility and Acceptable Use Policy from each client)?
- Are you able to ensure that your group will not knowingly use the GNet Program to provide services to those people whose privileges have been explicitly revoked by any University governing body? Similarly, GNetIDs should not be granted to groups of people whose affiliations are explicitly barred from services.
Service Level Considerations
Please review the Service Level Agreement for the GNet Program and answer the following:
- Please describe the business case for your use of the GNet Program.
- How many GNet administrators will you require?
- What end-user support will you provide, bearing in mind that NSIT will not provide any support except for reports of hardware failure?
- Are you prepared to take responsibility for overseeing and maintaining your local GNet provisioning process? Note that this includes using online applications to manage your GNet administrators.
