Logging Into Harper
Please note: NSIT is no longer creating new accounts on harper. Individuals claiming or re-establishing their CNet accounts after the end of May 2009 will be unable to access harper.
Problem:
I need to log into harper but have no idea how to get started. What do I need to do?
Solution:
In order to log onto harper, you'll need to use a telnet client such as SSH Secure Shell. If you've installed the Connectivity Package you already have a pre-configured connection to harper.
Explanation
Harper is an interactive-use Unix server which many members of the University use to check their mail with pine or pineimap, run account maintenance (like setting up automatic vacation messages), or a variety of other tasks.
Everyone who has signed up for an account with NSIT has a home directory on harper where they can store a small number of files and use the software which is on the server.
