NSIT Student Suite: Services Available to UChicago Students

NSIT provides a plethora of services for students. The services listed below are just a sampling; search http://findit.uchicago.edu for more student resources.

cMail: cMail is the University’s primary email service, available free of charge. You can access cMail via the web at https://webmail.uchicago.edu or can install a program, such as Mozilla Thunderbird, to read and file your email. For more information about cMail, visit http://nsit.uchicago.edu/email. You can also electronically chat with others using the Chicago instant messaging service. Chalk: Chalk is the University of Chicago’s learning management tool. It provides a secure, easy-to-use environment for posting materials and information related to teaching, learning, and research, or participating in sponsored organizations. To access Chalk, go to https://chalk.uchicago.edu and log in using your CNetID and password. Learn more at http://nsit.uchicago.edu/chalk.

WebShare: WebShare is a web-based file sharing tool available at no charge. You can use WebShare to store, share or easily access files. Your WebShare directory has one gigabyte of storage. To access your WebShare directory, go to https://webshare.uchicago.edu and log in using your CNetID and password. Learn more at http://nsit.uchicago.edu/webshare.

USITE: NSIT operates four computer clusters in the Crerar, Harper, and Regenstein libraries, and the Biological Sciences Learning Center (BSLC). These facilities are available throughout the year and a valid CNetID and password is required to use the workstations. They provide a standard suite of software, along with printers and scanners. Printing: Wireless printing is available at the USITE computing clusters. Black and white printing is available in Crerar, Harper, and BSLC, and color printing is available in Harper and Crerar. Learn more at http://nsit.uchicago.edu/printing.

IDs and Transportation: You can visit the ID and Privileges office in the lobby of the Regenstein library to get or replace your University ID card, get help with your CNetID, purchase CTA or Omega Airport Shuttle passes, obtain an international student ID card, have a passport photos taken, or rent a locker in the Regenstein library. Phone Services: Each residence hall room has a phone that allows on-campus calls at no cost, and does not change for receiving calls from on or off campus. Basic phone service includes features such as voicemail, call waiting, abbreviated dialing, and three-way calling. You can get an authorization code (Authcode) from cMore to make domestic long distance calls for $.03/minute and international calls at varying rates. Hardware and Software Sales: The University offers a wealth of software. You can visit the Solution Center (http://nsit.uchicago.edu/solutioncenter) for help with purchasing software or browse available software at http://ostore.uchicago.edu. Hardware Services: For repairs to your computer or other hardware, the Hardware Service Department is available for walk-in or on-site appointments.
