Events
Since Academic Technologies covers so many areas, we hold monthly events to help faculty, researchers, teaching assistants and staff learn about our services and technologies available to them. We also hold seminars on how to help in their technical classroom needs.
Chalk Days
Throughout each quarter, we hold a series of monthly events related to Chalk and Digital Media. Topics range from a complete overview to in-depth subjects, such as Gradebook, Tests and Surveys, and how to customize your Chalk site, just to name a few. Topics change from month to month, so check out our schedule! Faculty, TA's and staff are welcome to attend. Reserve Now!

| Capturing Audio and Video Content - Introducing audio and video equipment available to faculty and researchers. Hands-on demonstration on how to set up the equipment and record. |

| Digital Imaging - Have you ever wondered how to create digital images content for teaching and/or research? This question and answer session will help you understand and select the proper tool(s) for your project. |

| Chalk Overview - Features & Functions - Learn the basics of developing and managing a course in Chalk. This session will provide an overview of how to customize your site, navigating and creating course links, tips on organizing your course materials, tricks to engage students in online discussions, the collaboration and communication tools and a brief look at the assessment features. |

| Setting Up the Gradebook in Chalk - Chalk’s Gradebook allows you to enter and track your students’ grades within Chalk. This session will help you become more familiar with the Gradebook’s features including: adding and managing items, downloading your grades, weighting, customizing your grading scale, excluding items from the total score, etc. |

| Using Chalk for Developing Course Assessments - This session will include a discussion on the following: building question pools, creating online tests and non-graded, anonymous surveys, deploying online assessments, reviewing results in the Gradebook and much more. |

| Adaptive Release - Adaptive release provides a way to release content to students based on a set of rules, such as date and time, certain groups, and assessment score. This session will help you become more familiar with this advanced feature in Chalk. |

| Effective Use of Groups in Chalk - Chalk has many new features when it comes to Groups such as random enrollment, adaptive release of course material to groups and Team websites that students prepare within Chalk with tracking reports for grading purposes. This session will help you become more familiar with using these Advanced Group features. |

| Extending the Classroom Walls Using the Chalk Discussion Board - Asynchronous discussions are a way for faculty to move student interactions beyond the limits of the classroom. See how to setup a forum and use the advanced options |

| Using iMovie Clips in Chalk - Learn how to get film clips from a digital movie camera into your computer using Apple's iMovie program. Edit your film, add transitions, music, titles, and effects and learn how to best get it ready to post in your Chalk course site. |

| Chalk – Self Instruction - There are many self-instruction, self-paced tutorials that have been created for those who cannot attend one of the Chalk Day presentations. These very basic tutorials will get you started with some of the features and options in Chalk. | |
| Chalk for TAs - Everything you need to know about supporting a Chalk course site as a TA. Instructors, please encourage your TAs to participate, or feel free to join them yourselves. |
