Administrative Systems
The goal of Administrative Systems is to deliver and support University-wide application software to:
- streamline, speed up, make more accurate, and enhance the University's core business processes
- provide data that can improve the University's planning, decision-making, compliance, and external reporting
- help ensure the continued, reliable operation of University business processes as systems age and requirements evolve
- enable faculty and students to focus a greater portion of their time and energy on the research and learning opportunities which brought them to the University in the first place, by reducing the effort and time they must spend on administrative processes.
Organizations in Administrative Systems
Administrative Systems is comprised of five major organizations:
- Student, Development, Facilities and Network Information Systems implements, maintains and supports central University-wide systems related to students (student records, registration, financial aid, transcripts, and more), alumni affairs and fund-raising systems, key Facilities management and information systems, and network-related information systems supporting voice and data networking operations.
- Financial and Human Resource Applications implements, maintains and supports the University’s core financial, HR/Payroll, and research administration systems, including accounting, payables, fixed assets, financial reports, procurement, payroll, HR, benefits, proposal tracking, institutional review board, and conflict of interest applications. Note: The website is currently being redesigned.
- Business Information Services is responsible for the central data warehouse (Integrated Reporting Facility), provides leadership in the use of data query & analysis tools (e.g., Business Objects), and aims to deliver high-quality information from the University's major administrative systems to clients in a highly useful manner to facilitate business processes and institutional decision-making.
- Renewal Projects and Architecture provides project leadership, business systems analysis, and technical integration for major administrative systems implementation / replacement projects.
- Web Services designs, builds, and supports websites and web applications for the University community, including major web front-ends to student systems (e.g., cMore and CourseRequest).
