Alex Henson
Alex Henson is Executive Director of NSIT. In this role, he oversees the administrative and financial functions of the department including HR, Procurement, Finance, and Facilities functions, and works in areas that don't fit neatly anywhere else or cut across the organization. He is actively engaged in audit and budgeting issues across the organization; leading space and facilities planning; representing NSIT on University administrative and financial committees; and acting as chief of staff for the VP-CIO when needed. Recently, Alex has led efforts to build out 6045 S. Kenwood for NSIT office and server room space and has been active in NSIT's efforts to contribute to environmental sustainability initiatives at the University.
In previous roles at the University from 1990-97 and since 2001, he has led a major system implementation (Gargoyle); managed student and alumni/development systems; and managed the Campus Computer Stores. Alex has also worked for a Fortune 500 medical device manufacturer and an automotive dotcom. He holds a BA (Political Science) and an MBA (Marketing and Human Resources Management), both from the University of Chicago.
