Integration
We do ...
Architectures, policies, and other informational documents to help technical staff make decisions that are aligned with strategic platforms and initiatives.
Cross-functional internal consulting, review, participation, guidance, facilitation, shepherding, and sponsorship. We represent a University perspective, always.
Maintain extensive external professional networks, to follow or lead the development of standards, tools, and practices of relevance to the University.
The IT Ecosystem, which helps us understand and portray how our systems work, avoid unanticipated consequences, and manage expectations.
Programs to develop and promote uptake of new and strategically important alternatives to the status quo to meet cross-cutting needs, in the following areas:
Data Management |
A Data Stewardship program for the University and a services-oriented approach to data delivery called Data Web Services to make access to and use of institutional data more transparent, to reinforce an enterprise data model, and to implement appropriate data security controls. |
Security |
Review of vendor products to ensure that purchased applications implement appropriate standards. Develop guidelines for data and system risk analysis and mitigating controls, and evaluate and select tools to better manage distributed access to and storage of sensitive data. |
Storage |
Architecture, rationale, and facilitation of implementation for a range of block, file system, and file oriented storage services to eventually get ahead of the curve for demand and to enable information-driven management of storage assets across applications. |
Identity Management |
ChicagoID and related infrastructure to help integrate systems and abate SSN usage. Coordinated account management between academic and clinical operations to enable people to use one account for all of their routine services. Federated identity to enable that account to be used also for remote and hosted services. Group & Privilege Management tools to manage access across applications and enable us to know who's got access to what. |
We are ...
Four IT architect/facilitators aided by a java developer.
Grateful for the collaboration of so many people whose work is the only reason something actually comes of what we do.
