Guidelines for Using Cellular Devices Safely
For safety reasons, the University of Chicago strongly discourages the use of a cellular device while operating a vehicle, whether for conversation, texting, or emailing, and without regard to whether a hands-free feature or headset is used. This guidance applies to both employees using University-provided devices, and for employees using personal devices to conduct University business. In addition, in a growing number of jurisdictions, including the City of Chicago, the use of a cellular device while operating a motor vehicle is illegal.
