I have a VHS and/or DVD from another country; will I be able to play it in a media classroom?
A. Yes, our media classrooms are equipped with region free DVD and VHS players that handle almost all broadcast standards, NTSC, PAL, and SECAM.
Can I plug my laptop computer into your media cabinets?
A. Yes, all of our media classrooms have a VGA cable in the cabinet. If you use a Mac you will need the adaptor that shipped with your laptop to plug into our VGA cable. Also, some Sony Vaio laptops shipped with an adaptor to attach to a VGA cable.
My laptop runs Windows 3.x/95, can I connect it to your media cabinet?
A. You can try, but anything below Windows 2000 is not supported by AVS.
I use a laptop that runs Linux; can I connect it to your media cabinet?
A. Sure, but we do not support Linux, so if you have a problem, you are on your own.
Why can’t I get the picture from my laptop to come up on the monitor/screen?
A. With a Mac, go into System Preferences, then click on Display, and then click Detect Displays. Do this AFTER you have connected to the VGA cable. With PC laptops there is no standard on sending the video signal out, most involve a pressing a combination of the function key (fn) and one of the F keys located at the top row of the keyboard. Do this AFTER you have connected your laptop to the VGA cable. Please refer to your owner’s manual to learn how to send the video signal out of your particular laptop.
I’ve never used a media cabinet before; can you show me how to use it?
A. Absolutely, just call us at 834-4499 and we can schedule training in one of our classrooms or in our office.
Do you offer delivery?
A. Yes, for $40 we will deliver and pickup your audiovisual equipment orders.
Does AVS setup events?
A. Yes, during regular business hours our technicians will setup, run, and breakdown your event for $67 an hour. We also offer free consultations to help you decide on what equipment is needed for your particular event. See also: Assistive Listening Devices Guidelines for Events Coordinators for Open Events.
