Windows Connectivity Software
NSIT provides the Connectivity Package to help members of the University community configure their computers for Internet access and to supply pre-configured applications that take advantage of that connection. This is a single,unified installer which installs and configures a number of client applications, including:
- Thunderbird 2.0.0.6
- Firefox 2.0.0.6
- WinSCP 3.8.2
- Putty 0.60
- Acrobat Reader 8
- Quicktime 6.5.2
This software requires Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista; at least 512 MB RAM and 300MB available disk space is recommended. You should not try to download this software unless you have a high-speed connection (either on-campus wireless or Ethernet, or a DSL or cable connection at home).
Follow these instructions to download and install Connectivity Package 14.0 for Windows XP or Windows Vista
- Download CP14.exe; when prompted, save it on your hard drive (so you can find it easily when you are finished, we'd recommend saving it to your Desktop).
- Double-click the file CP14 on your Desktop (or wherever you saved it). It make take a minute or two to start the installer.
- Click "Install" to install the Connectivity Package on your computer.

- Thunderbird - Thunderbird is a secure and powerful email client
- Firefox - Firefox is NSIT's recommended web browser
- WinSCP SFTP - WinSCP allows you to upload and download files from NSIT servers
- PuTTY SSH - PuTTY allows you to start shell sessions on NSIT servers
- Acrobat Reader - Adobe's Acrobat Reader allows you to read PDF formatted documents
- Spark - Spark allows you to easily communicate in real-time via text-based chat - more commonly known as Instant Messaging
