McAfee Security for Mac (formerly known as McAfee VirusScan for Mac)
VirusScan is now called Security for Mac
Effective with version 9.0, VirusScan has been renamed Security for Mac and the version number has been reset to 1.0.
Below are the installation files for VirusScan for Mac OS X, as well as documentation in PDF format and uninstallers for the previous relevant version of VirusScan for Mac OS X. If you are having trouble getting VirusScan to install on a Mac running the prior version of VirusScan, then use the uninstaller to first remove the old version.
Once you've downloaded the dmg, your Mac should automatically mount the dmg file - if not, double-click on it. Once the drive is mounted, double-click on the installer to run it.
You will be asked to enter your CNetID and CNet password when you click the download link. Only current students, faculty, and staff of the University are eligible to download this software.
- Security for Mac 1.0 (also known as VirusScan for Mac 9.0) Requires Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later, supports 10.6.x (aka Snow Leopard); see the README for details.
- VirusScan for Mac 8.6.1 Requires MacOS X 10.4.6 or later, supports up to 10.5.x (aka Leopard). Does NOT support Mac OS X 10.6.x (aka Snow Leopard). See the README for details.
