McAfee VirusScan for Windows Vista/7

Below is a self-extracting installer for McAfee VirusScan for Windows Vista and Windows 7, as well as documentation in PDF format.

There is no longer a separate VirusScan product for Windows Servers. If you are using NetShield, you should uninstall it and upgrade to VirusScan Enterprise. Support for NetShield was discontinued on 30 June 2004. (Note that this applies only to NetShield; VirusScan Enterprise does NOT include the application-specific features included in GroupShield. If you need licensing for GroupShield, please contact the NSIT Solution Center at solutioncenter@uchicago.edu for pricing.)

VirusScan 8.7i Installation Note

VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i will present a "McAfee Licensing" dialog early in the installation process. To prevent future problems with expiring licenses, please select "Perpetual" from the "License expiry type" drop down, click the "I accept the terms in the license agreement" radio button and then click the "OK" button.

Our VirusScan license also includes a number of other utilities which may be of use to people running larger-scale Windows deployments; please contact the Site Licensing Office for more information.

NOTE: If you are currently running an anti-virus product on your computer - including, but not limited to, either the consumer version of McAfee VirusScan (e.g. the one that came pre-installed on your computer), a prior version of McAfee VirusScan Enterprise or Norton AntiVirus - UNINSTALL IT BEFORE INSTALLING THE VIRUSCAN BELOW. Attempting to install the Corporate version of VirusScan on top of the Consumer version can corrupt your Windows Registry and force you to reinstall Windows. Additionally, installing VirusScan 8.7i on top of a prior version of VirusScan can also result in Windows Registry corruption which may disable the autoupdate function for any VirusScan version, forcing you to reinstall Windows to regain this functionality.

You will be asked to enter your CNetID and CNet password when you click the download link. Only current students, faculty, and staff of the University are eligible to download this software.
