Mathematica Download

This page provides links to download Wolfram's Mathematica package for mathematical modelling and visualization. Separate download or enrollment information is available for students, on-campus University-owned machines, and faculty/staff home use.

Authentication Required

Please note: You must authenticate with your CNetID and CNet password to download any of this software. Only current faculty, students, and staff of the University are eligible to use Mathematica under our site license.

The Site Licensing Office maintains a mailing list for Mathematica users. This list is used to disseminate information about new versions, license updates, and any other news relevant to this license. You can subscribe to this list from the web page at https://lists.uchicago.edu/web/info/mathematica-users. Please note that only uchicago.edu addresses will be subscribed to this list.

Mathematica is licensed for use by all current students, faculty, and staff of the University of Chicago. At such time as you leave the University, you must remove your copy of the software, or make arrangements with the Wolfram to purchase the commercial version.

There are two download clusters, one for students and one for campus machines. The two versions are in fact identical in function; however, Wolfram likes paperwork, and therefore requires that we maintain two license numbers and licensing setups for this purpose. Please download the version appropriate for your status with the University. Note that running an inappropriate version IS a violation of the Univeristy's license, and will be treated as such if discovered.

Wolfram has made available a web-based introductory tutorial for Mathematica.  You can find it at http://www.wolfram.com/broadcast/screencasts/handsonstart/.
