cMail Remediation
If your CNetID has been compromised you should first follow the steps for compromised CNetID account recovery, then return here to check your cMail settings. Compromised accounts are often used to send fraudulent email (SPAM, phishing) via webmail, and in the process cMail settings are usually changed.
To remediate your email account:
1. Log in to cMail
Browse to the cMail web site and use your CNetID.
Once you are logged in you should see the links for Preferences and Options in the navigation menu along the left side of the page. For each one, click the link and following the instructions below.
2. Check Preferences
Click Preferences and review all settings with a particular focus on Full Name, E-mail Address, Reply-To, Sent Folder, Signature, Time Zone, and Message Charset. Make any necessary changes and save. If you are unsure how to change your Preferences see the cMail Preferences documentation.
3. Check Options
Check Options with a particular focus on Forwarding (which links to a different site) and Filters. Make any necessary changes and save. If you are unsure how to change your Options see the Options section of the cMail documentation.
