Voicemail

Getting Voicemail

For individuals or groups within established departments:

Established departments are those which have had voicemail installed on other telephones and have a voicemail coordinator. Individuals or groups who are part of an established department obtain voicemail by talking to their voicemail coordinator.

For new groups or individuals:

New groups or individuals who wish to have voicemail should contact Client Services & Support at 2-9100, option 4, for a voicemail start-up packet which will include a request form, or you may complete our order form. After a completed order form has been received and your department has designated someone to train your group on voicemail, we will contact you to make all necessary arrangements.

For students:

Voicemail is not a feature that is included with your basic phone services. In order to obtain this feature, submit the Student Voicemail Request Form. Within 72 hours after receiving your completed form, your personal password and instructions will be delivered to your residence hall mailbox. Departmental Trainers

Departmental trainers must attend a "train the trainer" training session. This type of training helps to insure that users in your department have someone right there who can answer most questions and can make sure that all users have had some initial training on voicemail. We have found that this is the fastest way to insure that users get the most from using their voicemail. These trainers are also performing the critical task of making sure that all users have "initialized" their mailbox with their own password and with an appropriate caller greeting. To Order/Cancel Voicemail

To have voicemail installed or removed from your office, please submit the Voicemail Request Form.

Students may order voicemail services by submitting the Student Voicemail Request page.

Moves

If your telephone moves to a new location, and you are keeping voicemail on it or upgrading or downgrading the voicemail box type, no separate transaction is needed for the voicemail. The voicemail changes will be made at the same time as the telephone changes. When you contact Client Services & Support for telephone changes, make sure you include your voicemail requests at that time.
