Virtual Private Network

The Virtual Private Network (VPN) lets you, as a University community member, access University network resources as if you were on campus, no matter where you are in the world. However, you do not need the VPN to access library resources and most other campus resources. It is only necessary to access certain restricted resources, such as non-web-based file shares. If you are unsure about whether or not you need to use the VPN, check with local support or call 4-TECH before installing the VPN software.

You can download VPN software from the Site Licensing website. Once you've downloaded and installed the VPN software, see the documentation for either Mac or Windows to set up a VPN connection to the UChicago network. You can also browse the NSIT tip sheet on using the VPN to connect to the University network.
