Section 3: Communicate on Campus

Email

Once you create your CNetID, you'll have access to your University of Chicago email, which is called cMail. Visit our email website for information about email services at the University. One special feature of UChicago email (called cMail) is that you may create up to five personal email aliases. For example, you could you could receive email as janedoe@uchicago.edu as well as jane@uchicago.edu. If you want to use a different email account altogether for reading mail, such as a Gmail or Yahoo account, please forward your email from your University email address to your other account. Since the University sends all official email to your UChicago address, forwarding your UChicago email ensures that you receive important communications.

You have 1 GB of space for storing your email. If you ever find yourself needing more space, you can use WebShare. WebShare is the University's web-based file storage and file sharing tool.
